I have researched and written over 150 medical programmes for disease awareness, training and marketing. I also direct off-camera interviews with doctors and patients and supervise the development of animation storyboards. |

NHS - Patient awareness videos on prostate disease A nationwide project has been launched to enable patients with prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) to make the right treatment choices for them. I wrote both programmes and directed the interviews with the doctors and patients. (Pukka Films) Sanofi-Aventis - Rimonabant Rimonabant was to be a new blockbuster weight reducing drug that will be used to treat people at cardiovascular risk from obesity. GlaxoSmithKline - Video News Reel (VNR) Off-camera interviews with patients with cervical cancer in French as part of a library of VNR (video news reel) footage to be available at the time of the launch of a vaccine against human papillomavirus virus which is the root cause of this disease. Ferring - New hormone treatment for prostate cancer Ferring has launched a new hormonal treatment for late stage prostate cancer. This video aimed at doctors and the medical press describes the benefits of this new drug. (House Media) Pfizer - A vaccine to prevent cervical cancer Cervical cancer is now known to be caused by the human papillomavirus for which Pfizer has produced a vaccine. I conducted a series of off camera interviews in English and French with patients who describe the effect of the disease and the value of preventive treatment. Ferring Pharmaceuticals - Corporate Video Ferring is a privately owned pharmaceutical company that specialises in peptide drugs and other specialist medicines. This video describes the company's history and development and is aimed at, among others, graduates and potential research partners. DOCET - Communication Training for Optometrists The Directorate of Optometric Continuing Education & Training produces training materials for optometrists. I wrote a humorous drama to reveal the importance of good communication skills. Pfizer - Alzheimer’s Disease A series of programmes aimed at GPs, geriatricians and neurologists to explain recent work with Aricept (Pfizer), a cholinesterase inhibitor, in the management of dementia. Documentary - Breast Cancer An overview of the latest thinking in the causes and treatment of breast cancer filmed at the Royal Marsden Hospital with Professor Michael Baum. Silver Plaque, Chicago International Film & TV Festival. Documentary - Microsurgery A look behind the scenes at St Bartholomew's Hospital. The skill of a musical microsurgeon, his instruments and how he teaches surgeons this miniature craft. Gold Award, IVCA Dept of Health - Nursing and Aids Four programmes commissioned by the Department of Health to train nurses to understand the multiple issues associated with treating patients with HIV and AIDS. The topics included child health, midwifery, young people and the psychology of AIDS. GlaxoSmithKline - Hospital Antibiotics made Simple An overview of current practice in the use of antibiotics in hospitals aimed at clinicians, presented by Dr Adrian Bint of Newcastle Royal Infirmary. | |
