To find these in Outlook or Outlook Express, go Tools > Email Accounts > View or change existing email accounts then click the > Change button. That reveals the settings which you can then make a note of.
When you start up MailWasher a wizard takes you through the set up process, and you simply enter these details plus your password. If you have multiple email accounts, you can set up a MailWasher account for each one.
NB: If you have set Outlook to check your email at intervals, turn that facility Off (Options > Mail setup >Send/Receive) because from now on MailWasher will do the regular checks. Mailwasher can check your email as often as you like, say every 10/15 minutes.
When mail arrives you are alerted by a sound and an animated logo and a list like the one below is seen. You can train the programme to recognise friends or blacklist spammers. It also identifies likely viruses so you can delete them before they get near your computer. One of the best things is you can bounce spam right back to the spammers so that you get deleted from their lists.
Once you have checked your mail on Mailwasher, you click Process Mail which automatically takes you to your email programme so you can download your legitimate email.
